Confederation Theatre is much more than you see tonight. In addition to producing plays at the Pumphouse, Confederation has developed a program for Seniors in Calgary and in surrounding communities.  We have written and performed short plays ranging from comedies to the problems of aging and elder abuse.  

Our Seniors entertainment group (“Acting our Age”) were affected by the pandemic, but in May 2021, we started to rehearse outdoors.  Then requests started to arrive to perform at retirement residences again.  A new program was prepared, scripts written and final rehearsals prepared.  In June 2021 we started actual performances at retirement residences.  Performances went very well and the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Acting Our Age have been asked to return soon at all our venues.

At one performance outside, we had to compete with traffic noise from Macleod Trail and police sirens from Anderson Road.  The wind howled and knocked props off of the set, but we followed the old saying, “The show must go on,” and we did to a very appreciative audience.

About 10 performances have been held so far, all to audiences who really appreciated the occasion.  Later this year we will be returning with our new program to Manor Village, by popular demand.   In November, we go out of town to entertain in Carstairs.

This year, Acting Our Age has added live musical entertainment to perform between acts, thanks to musician, Slim Chance.
